Mid 1900s sterling silver ring with an navette shaped abalone shell set in a loopy open work frame. Stamped Sterling and unidentified mark on the bottom of the setting. Elegant and simple Art Nouveau style navette ring. Like oyster pearls, abalone shell “likes to be worn” and contact with the oils in the skin with enhance the colors and iridescence. A lovely ring that celebrates the natural beauty of abalone shel.
Measurements: Ring is size 6, face is 1 3/8 inch x 5/8 inch. Weight is 3.5 grams.
Condition: Very good condition with light tarnish on the silver, shank is a little out of shape, polish residue can be seen on the bottom of the setting with magnification.
Condition scale:
Excellent: light wear such a surface scratches, patina from age, very slight smoothing of detail
Very Good: moderate wear such as scratches, fleabites or nicks to stones when inspected closely
Good: obvious wear such as dents, heavy detail wear and minor damage – wearable without repairs
Fair: heavy wear and/or damage that needs to be repaired for the piece to be worn
